Crackle Xmas Manicure

A nice idea for a Christmas Crackle manicure. I used Rimmel "Stiletto Red", Bettina "Mojito", Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat "Antiqued Gold" and OPI "Silver Shatter".

Dr.Remedy's Fall Fever 2011

I recently received some samples from the Dr.Remedy's Fall Fever collection.

Dr. Remedy's describes their collection colors as so:

- DEFENSE Deep Red: A rich bordeaux with a mystifying matte finish

- NOBEL Navy: A sea-at-dusk shade that reflects light and brings dimension to tips and toes alike

- BALANCE Brick: A modern maroon with body and balance

Here is the gorgeous navy blue called "Noble Navy" and a deep wine color called "Defense Deep Red".

My favorite is the navy blue, plus you only need to coats to get a perfect coverage :D

This has to be one of the nicest colors I've gotten recently. Orly's "Fowl Play" is a purple shimmering iridescent with blue and red flakies from the Birds of a Feather Collection. Gorgeous!!

Blue, Gray & White Crackle Randomness

When you can't decide which color you want your manicure to be, this happens!

I painted half the nail with CHI's "Ferry to Lady Liberty" and the other with Orly's "Calypso Breeze". After they dried I alternately added a coat of China Glaze's Crackle "Lightning Bolt" and "Cracked Concrete".

This is how the manicure ended up looking.
(Let's ignore my bruised cuticles. * embarrassed*)

Milani Silver Dazzle

I've been wanting to try Milani's One Coat Glitters for a while and finally got around to it. It definitely is a whole lot of glitter for every day use for my taste but it does look gorgeous and would dress up any outfit! :D

So my new toy is a Canon Rebel T3 and I'm still learning all it's tricks, the great part is that it takes gorgeous pictures of polishes like Orly's "Meet Me Under The Mistletoe" with it's flakie and sparkly beauty! (first swatch it)

Hopefully I will learn my way around it soon & take some more gorgeous manicure pictures to share with you!

Newspaper Manicure

Hello Readers!

It's been a while since I do any fun nail art, so I decided to finally give this newspaper manicure a try since it looked so easy on CutePolish's tutorial.

I painted my nails first with OPI's "Skull & Glossbones" from the Pirates of The Caribbean Collection, after they dried I dipped my nail in some rubbing alcohol for like 5 seconds and firmly pressed a piece of newspaper on my nail for a little while. After you take off the piece of newspaper the ink from the letters should have been transfered to your nail, now all you have to do is seal it in with some top coat and you are all done!

It's a super easy manicure and it looks great!

30STM Concert Manicure

On May 22nd was the 30 Seconds To Mars concert here in Puerto Rico and it was amazing!!

Since I was studying for finals while doing my manicure I tried to keep it simple & just use colors that reminded me of their album covers.

I started by painting the bottom of the nail with ManGlaze's "Matte Murder" once that dried I used regular clear adhesive tape to cover the area while I applied Bettina's "Matte" and once that dried I did the same before I applied Orly's "Poison Apple". After it dried it looked too much like a flag to me so I applied messy strokes of Morbid's "Silver" to tone down the stripes.

REVIEW: bigRubyTattoos

Today I want to show you something special, a great product from a small company with a big heart, bigRubyTattoos.

bigRubyTattoos is a small cruelty-free company that specializes in making nail tattoos in a variety of designs while donating part of the proceeds to The Kindness Ranch a sanctuary for research animals.

I received the Garden, Cosmic and Star designs, as well as the Super Dry Top Coat for review (Thanks Maria & Lauren).

Since my university's mascot is a bulldog I decided to try out the bulldogs from the Garden design pack with my China Glaze "Laser Lime" manicure.

After cutting out the tattoo I wanted to use I pressed it down and then placed a wet cotton ball over it for about 15 seconds. Once the tattoo was dry I applied two coats of the Super Dry Top Coat, it took me more time to decide on which tattoo to use than the application of it!

& with some OPI "Black Shatter"

I think they look very neat and gorgeous, plus they are so quick and easy to apply!

Review: Wearable Soakers

Hello readers!
Today I want to show you a curious looking item I received from BornPrettyStore that can come in handy, Wearable Nail Soakers!

The packaging indicates that it can be used for soaking artificial nails in acetone & also for soaking in any desired soaking liquid or treatment. To test them out I filled them with water and cuticle oil. Once I put them on my fingers I let them soak for about 5 minutes. The liquid stays locked in allowing you to move around if you need to.

If you want to use any liquid treatments or soak your nails in acetone while still being able to move around the house this is a really neat option. You can get these at BornPrettyStore for about $6.75.

Edit: An important thing to mention which I forgot to say was that in order for the liquid to not leak these fit in rather tight. When I took them off I had the line market on my finger for a while, but I'm hoping they stretch out a bit with use so it stops happening.

Holographic Polka Dots!

Review: Kelier Crackle Polish

I recently was given the opportunity to review some products from BornPrettyStore, they offer a great variety of nail art products and nail polishes.

One of the products I chose to review was the Kelier crackle polish, I tried it out and compared it to the crackle polishes from China Glaze and OPI.

Here we have Kelier over Dr.Remedys HEALING heather grey

I also noticed that you get an interest effect by just doing two layers of the Kelier crackle polish, it kinda looks like crumpled paper.

I also made my first video with the purpose of comparing side by side the different crackle brands. Remember it's my first video so bear with me & let me know what you think. :)

The video is in real time.

Here they are side by side: Kelier Blue crackle, China Glaze "Fault Line" and OPI "Black Shatter".

Even though they are all crackle polishes, they all leave a different finish. OPI leaves an elongated slim crackle, China Glaze leaves bigger crackle and Kelier leaves a smoother crackle. They also vary in the time they take to crackle, OPI and China Glaze crackle pretty fast whereas Kelier takes longer. The choice of which one to use would depend on budget, time and finish you prefer.
Kelier is available at BornPrettyStore for about $4.50.

So, which crackle do you like best?

Holographics!

So all I've seen recently are posts and more posts about holographic nail polishes and you all convinced me to go and hunt some down so I could jump on this holo-wagon with all you girls :)

From China Glaze's Tronica Collection I got "Gamer Glam", "Laser Lime", "Hologram", "Mega Bite" and "Digital Dawn". From Nfu.Oh I got #65 and #63.

Here are the color wheels and as many mentioned already the polishes from the Tronica Collection aren't as holo as other ones in the market, you can clearly see this when you compare them to how the Nfu.Oh's look here.

So if after seeing these pictures and all the other ones my fellow bloggers have been posting recently you still haven't jumped on the holo-wagon, what are you waiting for? Some Sally Beauty Supply's still have the Tronica Collection, you can also look on ebay, amazon and other online stores. Good Luck!

China Glaze Crackle

So I know everyone has already seen these, but here are my swatches from the China Glaze Crackle Collection (minus Black Mesh).

I used Hard Candy "The End" as a base for China Glaze "Lighting Bolt" and Bettina "Matte" as a base for the rest of them.

Here's "Lighting Bolt", "Broken Hearted", "Crackled Concrete", "Crushed Candy" and "Fault Line".

I really like these!!

Dr's Remedy REVIEW

Sorry I've been missing for a bit .. procrastination has taken the best of me & college has been consuming most of my time :( Nevertheless, I've been painting my nails with all the pretty new polishes I have gotten these last few months and taking pictures on-the-go :P I think that is how it's going to be like for a while until I get my schedule under control.

Sorry it took me so long to post this one but school started and it has me busy. Nevertheless, I am still swatching and taking pics, just at a slower pace.

Here is the beautiful Orly "Galaxy Girl" from the Cosmic FX collection.
It is a gorgeous dark purple with hints of pink and blue-ish sparkles :)

Sephora: Ocean Love Potion

So I finally got the Sephora "Ocean Love Potion" (opaque mediterranean turquoise) I had had my eyes on for a while. I used the China Glaze "Fast Drying Top Coat" on all nails except the ring finger where I used Seche Vite "Fast Dry Top Coat". Also I used the Orly "Bonder".

I am in love with Sephora "Ocean Love Potion" :)

Also I think I might stick to the China Glaze top coat for a while, reasons (in comparison to my previous top coat which was Seche Vite):

nice candy like smell
smoother application
fast drying
it's not thick like Seche-Vite
no nail shrinkage, so far

So overall I am very happy with it!!

My September Haul

I am really going to have to do a better job at controlling my nail polish related purchases. Take a look at my latest haul.

My Seche-Vite ran out so I decided to give China Glaze's "Fast Forward Top Coat" a chance. Also from China Glaze I got "Ingrid" and "Emerald Fitzgerald" from the Vintage Vixen collection. From Orly I got "Garnet Truth", the Borghese "Serena" Nail Lacquer Mini Kit and a Gold Bond Ultimate "Hand Sanitizer Moisturizer". My favorite part of the haul though, was finding Incoco on sale at my local Walgreens!! So I got "Rose Tea", "Lolita", "Sinderella", "Diva" and "French Manicure: Champagne".

Since I am very impatient and I had 10 polishes I hadn't tried yet, here's what I did!

(On my right hand I added the Sephora "Ocean Love Potion", Orly "Old School Orange" and Essie "Damsel In a Dress" that I hadn't tried yet.)

I love the insanity of having 10 different colors :P But I shall be swatching these properly in the next couple of months.

There's this brand in Puerto Rico called Bettina. They have a huge variety of colors and a great formula too. For a while they'd been carrying the same colors, but recently a new collection came out "Candy"!!

The collection includes (from left to right) "Natural", "Marshmallow", "Green Apple", "Sherbet", "Cotton Candy", "Peppermint" and "Grape".

These can be found in almost every pharmacy & department store in Puerto Rico. In Walgreens they were priced at 2 for $4

So my Puerto Rico readers are you getting these? How is your experience with Bettina?

Hello again readers!

Take a look at how I store my plates, nail art decals/stickers and nail glitters for an easy access when deciding what to do on my nails.

I bought a cute photo album at Kmart.

The BundleMonster plates fit nicely in it as do the Konad ones.

Also it allows for a perfect way to keep the nail art decals/stickers and nail glitters organized.

And as added bonus I can keep the postcards I've gotten in giveaways, promos and instruction booklets in the album too.

How do you keep your nail supplies organized?

So I went to Aerie a while back and I got this pretty pink Essie nail polish there. It was the last bottle and it had no label on it, so I have no idea which of all the pink Essie polishes it is.
Anyways here are the pictures of the manicure. Again it seems I had little patience and stacked too many thick coats together and I have bubbles in some of my nails. :( I have to be more patient.
